In 2013, Catalina a Wixarika woman who happened to be my friend teached me the traditional way of cross
stitching.
My first step was to create a piece with the symbol of the Peyote (hikuri) or sacred cactus.
It took me months to finish.
The night I finished it, Kauyumari came into my dreams and said:
Take a petal of this hikuri flower as a reminder of my heart...*
*In the Wixarika culture the peyote represents the Blue Deer (Kauyumari), the one who shows you the way to the good
living.
